Distribution and Habitat
– Cedrela odorata is the most common species, found in seasonally dry tropical and subtropical forests.
– C. angustifolia and C. montana occur at higher altitudes in moister conditions.
– Open fruits of Cedrela sp. show the central column.

Uses
– Cedrela odorata is a timber tree that produces lightweight, fragrant wood.
– The wood is resistant to wood-boring insects and rot.
– It is commonly used for making cigar boxes, outdoor and construction work, paneling and veneer wood, and musical instrument parts.
– Some species are CITES-listed.
– It is also grown as an ornamental tree and has become naturalized in certain areas.
