History and Growth
– Charles Francis Brush founded the Brush Electric Light Company in 1849.
– The Anglo-American Brush Electric Light Corporation was established in London in 1880.
Brush’s first electric dynamo was invented in 1876.
– The corporation moved to Falcon Engine and Car Works in Loughborough in 1889.
– In 1914, the company started manufacturing Ljungstrom steam turbines.
– The Brush companies were incorporated into the Hawker Siddeley Group in 1957.

Aircraft Manufacture
Brush Electrical built 650 aircraft, including Avro 504s and Short Type 184s, between 1915 and 1919.

Brush Electrical played a role in expanding the Royal Naval Air Service.
– They were one of the selected companies outside established aviation contractors.
